DR. FRANCISCO CHAPA

FCI ALL-BREEDS JUDGE Since 1977

Dr. Francisco Chapa is a veterinarian, breeder, owner, and handler with over 60 years of experience in purebred dogs. Since 1966, he has bred and exhibited numerous breeds, including the Afghan Hound, Borzoi, Boxer, German Shepherd Dog, American Cocker Spaniel, Whippet, Miniature Schnauzer, Shih Tzu, and Pekingese.

He has bred Whippets since 1972, beginning with foundation stock from Bo Bengtson and Jo Kramer. His breeding program combines English, American, and Australian bloodlines. Over the years, he has produced 11 World Champions, as well as numerous International, De Las Américas, and Mexican Champions. His dogs have won 78 Best in Show awards with 27 different dogs.

Dr. Chapa served as Coordinator of the Mexican Judges College for three years and has also been a professor at two Faculties of Veterinary Medicine.

He began judging conformation dog shows on September 26, 1977. During nearly five decades as a licensed FCI judge, he has officiated on five continents and has also judged under the rules of the AKC, CKC, the Australian National Kennel Council, the New Zealand Kennel Club, and other major kennel organizations.

Dr. Chapa has judged at three World Dog Shows, nine SICALAM Shows, and numerous De Las Américas y el Caribe Dog Shows. He has also officiated at many of the world's most prestigious events, including the Latin American Top Dog Shows, the Show of Shows, the Eukanuba National Championship in Orlando, the Santa Barbara Kennel Club Show, the Japan Dog Festival, and many other major dog shows across five continents. He continues to receive judging appointments around the world through 2028, including the 2028 FCI World Dog Show in Mexico City.

To date, Dr. Chapa has judged 298 National and Specialty Shows in Australia, Argentina, Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Russia, Japan, South Africa, Colombia, and Mexico, covering 60 breeds.
